Winner of SCI-FI-LONDON 7 48-Hour Film Challenge

Our first 48-hour film challenge was a great success. A long queue of hopefuls waited outside the Apollo to be issued a title, prop/action and a line of dialogue. Teams then had 48-hours to come up with a short film, that had to incorporate all of the above. We had some brilliant entries and here we present all participants.

No scenic drive along Oahu’s North Shore is complete without a stop at one of the many shrimp trucks. They all claim to be the “original” much like the many “original” Ray’s Pizza places in NYC. Well, being a vegan the fresh-farmed shrimp really weren’t the attraction, we were on the lookout for the Kahuku corn. We kept on reading about how great this corn is, and that it’s supposed to be the best friggin’ corn ever. After the 10th sign for fresh Kahuku corn, we were sold! Only problem, most trucks and farm stands were selling it uncooked. Finally, we spot a place that has it available cooked … enter Fumi’s Shrimp truck. We pull into the parking lot and the place was packed. People everywhere chomping down on the fresh shrimp, apparently the best dish was the garlic shrimp cause Fumi tried to sell me on it. I said, “I’m not here for the shrimp, I’m here for the corn!” So, Fumi hands me the hot unbuttered corn and we eat.
