Newton Old Ming Kee Prawn Noodle is a notch above most prawn noodle stalls in other coffee shops and hawker centres. Both the soup and dry noodles were delicious, not to mention the rich prawn broth. Is this the best prawn mee in Singapore? Definitely one of the top ones, though I believe there are better ones out there in terms of overall experience.
Savoury with a mild but lasting aftertaste, prawn mee can practically be a textbook definition of umami. The key to an outstanding bowl of prawn noodles lies in its soup, and whether it’s made with just prawns or with pork, a good soup can leave you slurping ‘till the last bit.
